Lapwing (kievit for you Dutch) |
It's one of those days again, where I don't really have anything to say. Work is fine, the weather is not. I am fairly tired, even after going to bed ridiculously early last night. Tonight however, there is no going to bed early: it's semi final number 2 tonight and I can vote! I know exactly who for as well, unless he really messes up.
Just to tell you about the photos: the photo at the top was taken last Sunday on my walk towards the local parade for May 17th (Norwegian 'independence day') and the second one is the main church window and the altar in 'Our Saviour's Church' in Haugesund, where I went to a service on the same day.
Beautiful stained glass window ! I don't know which semi final you mean, football, tennis ? I never watch sports.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos. What semi final 2? We just finished up our season of American Idol and The Voice. Once I pick someone I like I always vote no matter if they mess up one night or not.
ReplyDeleteMara,
ReplyDeleteIt is rainy and cool here but we need the rain and it has been a hot week here in the Southern USA so the cool is appreciated.
Do you and Ms. Oswin live in The Netherlands? I have a very good friend who lives in The Hague
Hugs madi and mom aka cecilia
That is a BEAUTIFUL window!!! We so love the architecture and glass work of those big churches and cathedrals across the pond! We don't have many like that over here!
ReplyDeleteYour Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
It is a very beautiful window. I didn't dare take a photo using flash though. I will have to go back on an ordinary day to do that!

ReplyDeleteWell spotted for the lapwing.... the window is gorgeous...... ........ I liked the Norwegian song just now... Rest well m'dear... YAM xx
He was just sitting there! I actually have several photos of him. Or her as the case may be.
DeleteThe Norwegian song is good, but there are several others that are better. I think...
C'mon Mara ..... vote for the Aussie!! He's pretty good and we haven't been in it before. We're only there because we got a wild card or something, whatever that means. Vote for the Aussie!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a very beautiful window. That birdie looks like what we call a Plover. Don't suppose it is though. I don't like Plovers. I chase 'em but they're not even a little bit scared of me. They just take off, turn around and dive bomb me. They've got nasty spurs on their wings too. They're almost as scary as cats. Sorry Miss Oswin ...... you're not scary!!!!!!!
Well, actually when I looked up the English translation for kievit (which is the Dutch word), plover also came up! As did peewit, which is sort of the same sound as kievit is in Dutch.
DeleteI would have loved to vote for Australia, but I think Italy, France, Israel, Montenegro, Serbia and Estonia are better! Sorry Charlie!!
Oh, and if you come back tomorrow, you will find out just how scary Miss Oswin is!!
Hey Mara!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a fun birdie! I don't have those here in my territory so I'm glad to see yours. Gorgeous window too. I bet the whole church is pretty.
Grr and Woof,
Sarge, Police Commish
The church is actually one of the few buildings made of brick in Haugesund. Most buildings over here seem to be made of wood. Including my house!
DeleteIn the Netherlands, there is a habit of trying to find the nest and the person who finds the first egg of the year, gets to present it to one of the 12 King's governors!
That is very exciting that Ohs is going to be your date. He is all excited. He is a very handsome boy and he is a very very nice guy.
ReplyDeleteYou have a great day.
Nice shots for an uninspired blogger.
