Whose scratch pole is it anyway?

Feline Friday 28

I've always felt those little box thingies are a waste of material, since none of my cats ever used them. And then, about a week ago, I saw Linette asleep inside! And a few days later again. So, I got my camera and managed to get a nice photograph. Well, I think so anyway!

Feline Friday 27

Hey, I'm still under here!

Mind you, I wouldn't do this with my laptop, the chance Mathilda would move or get up would be a bit too great!

Feline Friday 26

Whenever Linette overnights outside she has to sleep somewhere. She tends to stay close to the house though, especially when she gets a bit hungrier and might be let in by me. This pile of old grass and leaves makes the perfect 'bed' for her!

Feline Friday 25

Two ladies who don't really get along. Hissing and growling especially from Sophie's side! This is one of the rare moments where they sat on the same small bench. Only for about as long as it took me to take this photo though...

On the left it's Linette, on the right is Sophie.

Feline Friday 24

"Hey, this vet lark isn't so bad! And this is a perfect set of scales, very comfy..."

(even if he was weighing in at well over 6 kilograms (over 13 lbs)).

Feline Friday 23

What do you mean I'm inside? Don't you see my front paws: they are outside! So, I am outside...

Feline Friday 22

Cats are known for their ability to walk on the narrowest of ledges. They will wibble and wobble a bit, but use their tails as a way to keep their equilibrium and more importantly: to stay up!

Mathilda can do that as well. This is the fence around my garden and you can see how narrow it is. It can't be more than 2,5 cm (1 inch) wide and yet she managed to walk up ànd down: she changed halfway through and came back.

Feline Friday 21

Linette is the most adventurous monster living with me. She loves to roam outside and the only problem with that is, that she doesn't eat while out and will come back after a night (or two) looking dreadful! I even had the vet telling me one year that she was way too skinny. I knew that, but I cannot force her to come in.

You would think that heavy rain would force her to find a nice warm spot (like my lap), but nooooo, she will still stay outside until hunger forces her in.

He speaks for himself doesn't he?

Feline Friday 19

Why is it that whenever I try to make a photo of one of my cats, one of the others decides to walk into my frame? You might be able to spot Wuppie (you can just see his ears on either side of the tail). The tail belongs to Sophie.

Feline Friday 18

While driving through Chelsea (London) a few weeks ago, I had to stop for a red light. I looked to my left and this is what I saw. I grabbed my camera and was able to take a photo before the lights turned to green.

Feline Friday 17

It's hard enough making my bed (it's a king size) without the so-called help of my monster Wuppie! But he felt he was helping, albeit himself!

Feline Friday 16

I've got some weird monsters. No really, I do! This is Linette and she just (for some strange reason) loves to lick plastic. I don't always catch her, but this time I was able to take this photo before shooing her away.

Feline Friday 15

Every three months I have to give my monsters a medicin in their necks to protect them from lice, ticks and fleas. I don't have to force their mouths open, I don't have to shove anything down their throat, just put a little bit of fluid in their neck. But for some reason Mathilda hates it. No, that's too soft a word, she loathes it. And whenever I have to give it to them, I have to catch her first, otherwise I can't catch her at all! It's funny to see, because she is the most laid-back of monsters living in my home!

Feline Friday 14

I always love murals and when there's a monster included in it, how can I resist? This was a small mural I found in Arles while I was walking around.

Feline Friday 13

Normally when Wuppie gets to go outside, he checks in about every half hour or so. But a few years ago, he didn't. And after about an hour and a half I got quite worried. My neighbourhood houses some animal haters who wouldn't hesitate in using cats as footballs or lassoos, so I was quite anxious to find him asap. But when I stepped outside it became quite clear to me, no thug or villain had gotten hold of him; he had gotten himself in trouble!
This tree stands across from my home and is a fairly large tree. That wouldn't be a problem if the first branch were quite low, but it isn't. It's really high. And on the first branch was Wuppie, trying to catch a bird! Every time he got close, the bird would fly up and sit on another branch, really taunting Wuppie. When Wuppie wasn't trying to catch the bird, he was trying to get down, but it was too high up for him! He was miaowing a lot, but he didn't dare jump out. (A cat has to see where it's going, so getting out backwards isn't an option)
After another half hour of that, I had started looking for a ladder, but to no avail: all ladders were to short to even come half way! Now, my mother has always said, that come dinnertime, most cats will make their way home again, so I was hoping for that. I wasn't at ease though and after another fifteen minutes I decided to try and find a larger ladder. Wuppie had other plans though: he was already hungry and had decided to jump out of that huge tree anyway!

Feline Friday 12

I'm not here!

This photo reminds me of those children playing hide and seek. The hold their hands in front of their eyes and because they can't see anybody, nobody else can see them!

Feline Friday 11

My monsters don't always have the air of being the most intelligent of creatures. I took this photo last week of my darling Sophie (who is doing very well by the way), while she was just looking around her. With her tongue hanging out! For about ten minutes!!

Silly Sophie...
