I was going to...

...finish the painting. But, someone threw soot in the food by doing something with the chimneys on our block, which resulted in a lot of dust all the way. Which is not the best thing. Because paint and dust don't really mix if you want a nice result at the end of the day.

Instead I installed our media box. Because I want to watch something, my dad wants to watch something else and my mum a third program. We need to be able to record stuff. And that was possible with this media box thing.

I installed the thing and then proceeded to record something. Just for a try you know. As I was watching show A and waiting for show B to be recorded there was a message on the screen: in thirty seconds your show is about to be recorded. Great. And then the channel changed to show B! What the *^%$&? It would only record a program that you were watching at the time!

Needless to say I wasn't happy. At all. So, this afternoon I made a phone call. I explained, the girl didn't understand. I explained again. Hold the line please. She came back: the media box I wanted was available. It would only cost me x amount (ex VAT) per month. And x wasn't that low either. Considering all it did was allow me to record a show here or there. Ridiculous.

We are still not sure what we are going to do. I am reluctant regarding the price. My dad is reluctant regarding internet (it's all one package) and my mum is reluctant because of the font on teletext. I think we will need to talk properly to somebody and not just over the phone.

I will keep you posted.

Dad has all that. Lots of buttons involved. Too many channels. Too much choice. Somehow we manage to get it together in the evenings! YAM xx

    1. I had it on my simple system (Freeview) in NI and it worked a treat. Free as well. Over here we are expected to pay 10 pounds a month for the joy of taping and no other extras! Ridiculous.

  2. Recording programs is the best. I hope you can get this worked out. We pay monthly for ours however we can only tape two items at a time but you can watch other taped shows while those are taping.

  3. That doesn't sound like a very useful system if you can only record or watch one show at a time. I guess they expect you to only record shows when you aren't around to watch them.

  4. We have all in one, telephone fix, internet (then you have all channels) for the TV But you need a special box for that and that only works for one TV. We can record one film at one time but several during the day on different times, while you watch what you want. The best is to have it explained by specialist. I am not very clever in these things !

  6. Yep I think you might need a face to face. Our Cable box records 2 things at a time....which is good;however, you have to watch something already recorded or watch on that is recording. At least you can watch something.
    Happy Friday

  7. You sure are keeping busy! My ghostwriter doesn't EVER touch the TV remote or anything that has to do with the internet in our house. That's Dad's job, and he can have it!

  8. We are old school the last 8 years. Only what we an grab for free out of the air.And the recorder has not even been hooked up since we moved almost 7 years ago. I manage getting what I want over my laptop if Gene wants to watch baseball. Of course there is no baseball this year.

    1. I am quite the telly addict and am willing to pay for it. We now have a working system though: I can tape the programs I want upstairs (and watch them there as well at a later date) and downstairs everything is back to normal again.
