What would you do?

I mentioned sometime last month. Winning the lottery. And I did! I won! Not big of course. I bought tickets for €30 and won €16! So, not immediately the 'buy a house, go on holiday, quit my job, give a big party' amount I was hoping for. But then again, you have to start somewhere.

On Friday night, the lottery draw takes place again. And I am planning on winning properly this time. There's just over €2 million up for grabs for me (I've got one fifth of a lottery ticket: I only pay one fifth, but I also win one fifth). And I've been thinking about what I would do if I were to win. Here are some of the things I will might do:

Buy a house, although not the one I currently live in. Way too small! (I've got to think big when I'm a millionaire, something along the lines of Buckingham Park is more my style)
Buy a car, any car as long as it is bright pink.
Go on holiday to Canada and ask my sister along.
Emigrate to Canada.
Get a cleaner, a gardener and a handyman to fix up my home!

So, what would you do if you won the lottery?

  1. I wish you luck with you newest ticket. I would help my children out. Pay off their cars. We gave our son $25,000. to buy a house and have the same for our daughter.
I would pay off our mortgage and do some donations. It would be all about my children so I would invest but right now their are no good investments out there. I was fortunate to get some money from my aunt and uncle who passed away a few years ago. Having that in the bank just makes life easier.
    I wish you happiness.

  2. I love the idea of a pink car. It would certainly be easy to see, so no one will hit you. I think a pink electric car would be a good thing for me.
Instead of a palace, though, I would want an environmentally-friendly house with solar power, a geo-thermal heating-cooling system, wide covered verandas, and lots of pretty bedrooms (and bathrooms) and, if it's here in the desert part of the Canadian prairie, xeriscaping.

  3. I would emigrate to The Netherlands. Seriously, I would go on a trip of some kind, probably several -- and The Netherlands might be on my list.

  4. I'm all for emigrating. I want a little house though- small and hobbity. Not a lot to clean. a car would be nice too. But if I am rich, I will have everything mailed to me and never need a car.
and yes! travel- England, Ireland, Norway, Costa Rica....whatever plane leaves next- travel with my mommy.
    good luck

  5. I would payoff the bloodsucking IRS, bring Bassman home and give my poor horses a new barn. And have the biggest doggone party for everyone in the county. Pay off my neighbors house. Give my kids a million each. And send you another box of Bisquick.

  6. I've often thought about this, though I never buy lottery tickets. But there are three schools that I have either attended or been attached to in some way to whom I would make large donations. Cliff College, UK: Tyndale University and Seminary, Canada; Mizpeh Christian School on Chuuk, Micronesia. All three could continue to do so much more good and for so much longer if there were money available for them and all three have meant a great deal to me in my life.

  7. I'm playing the Euro lottery tonight - maybe we can both win? The first thing I'm doing is getting an au pair... then a big house in the country, not bothered about a new car (although a pink one would be nice) then I'd put on my Indiana Jones hat and do some travelling!
