Today's socks |
And since July that all worked quite well and I had fewer headaches. Then I got to be home and for some reason I did not drink enough. Which meant that last week an attack started that lasted six days. Although not as bad as they used to be, it was bad enough and I realised that just getting a mug of tea was not enough.
On the day the stitches were removed, I had to do some shopping and actually saw a really nice teapot. Only 20 euros as well, which wasn't that bad. But how to keep the tea hot in the teapot? I used to own a tea stand and light, but left them behind in Northern Ireland. I don't like tea purses like my Mum has and I cannot make a tea cosy right now.
This is the only voucher I have! |
I checked out the site and found a lovely teapot. It was nearly 70 euros (!), which I thought was quite steep (no pun intended), but I could pay with points as well. For every euro you needed 2 points. A total of 13,798 points were needed. I had 4! My Mum went upstairs to get her stash (donations from friends and family) and came down with three bags containing a total of 13,000. I was still short. Mind you, I could pay the balance in money, but my Mum had another trick up her sleeve: the kitchen drawer.
She dug and dug and my Dad and I tallied. In the end all the vouchers from the drawer added up to about 2,300! I took out the 798 I needed and the rest was put in bags to be kept for a future buy. Then I went to the shop where I could get the teapot.
The new teapot with one of my Moomin Christmas mugs |
Sue uses a tradition Brown Betty and a cosy. I don't think a pot lasts long enough to cool, but I'll pass this on.

ReplyDelete...hmmm... the shape suggests more a coffee pot, but the steel doesn't know that and tea is perfectly acceptable!!! I do like the design very much. My own, very round, teapot is also that newer double-walled design and does a good job - but I still intend to make a cosy for it. That I have had it seven years and it still waiting is irrelevant... Cheers! YAM xx
I might put my sister to work when she is here. I have plenty of fabric and fiberfill and I think we can think of a nice cosy design.
DeleteIt does suggest coffee pot I agree, but the sign on top says Pickwick and that (to me anyway) is very much tea. Besides, coffee pots are barely used in the Netherlands.

Deleteinteresting, given the Egberts connection... Noting other comments below, I forgot to mention that my own 'new' pot is also drip-free. Clearly steel pots are the way to go!!! (The old brown betty in OZ was a bit of a dribbler - but then again, it also had a damaged spout...) Yxx
A tea pot that doesn't drip. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteI know right! All the other pots I have ever had always had a drip and this one is completely without. So pleased with this purchase.
DeleteThat's a very elegant tea pot ! But real expensive, most important is you made a good bargain. I always look on Internet often these things are less expensive. It's very important to drink a lot. Rick didn't drink enough and was dehydrated and had to hang on a tube for a while ! I drink a lot of beer, of course alcohol free, I hate all these sweet drinks like Coke, Sprite, Fanta or whatever.
ReplyDeleteKom gerust uit proberen!
ReplyDeleteThat's amazing that you were able to find enough points to get that tea pot. It sounds like a great thing to have. I might have to find one for my mom who is an avid tea drinker and often has to pop her mug into the microwave to warm it up after the pot she made cools down.
ReplyDeleteSix days is a long time. Keep drinking that water! I'm so happy that worked out for you with the teapot. Enjoy!
