Tuesday's Travels 23

Last week's challenge saw us in a rainy Milan in Italy and it was the Duomo (Cathedral) there. Who knew? Well, the points go to Yamini and Hilary and Millie and Walter get a quarter point for naming the country.
My story? On my trip through the North of Italy (the same one where I first liked pizza) with a friend, we were staying in the youth hostel in Milan and visited the city. We were young, it was raining and we mainly checked out the shops. Which were filled with beautiful clothes we couldn't afford. But I also took this photo of the Duomo. We didn't see inside as we were also not interested in culture at that point.

On to this week's challenge, which requires a two part answer for the full points. Where is this? Have you ever been? Tell us your story. Answer next week.

  1. It looks very much like Pompeii with Mount Vesuvius in the distance.

  3. I don't usually do these, even when I know the answer, but I am guessing Pompeii. I think I remember that there was also another nearby town, and I think it was called Herculaneum. But this is just memory and possibly very wrong, and I am not bothering to look it up. :)

  4. Pompeii I think, I was there 1968. I took a 3 week European tour with a group of gals from all over the USA. I was one of 2 southern gals.

  5. We know we've never been there but it looks like some sort of ancient ruins. There is currently a commercial on TV for Amazon's Alexa about Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius and that was the first place that popped into our mind when we saw the picture. P.S. We scrolled quickly past all the other comments so we wouldn't be influenced by any of them.

  6. Again the cruise I went on with my mum, reminds me of places we visited that this could be. We went to Pompeii, Delphi and Ephesus, so this could be any of them. I have even got out our photo album to see if I have a similar view, but unfortunatley not. So this week I have to say I don't know where this is.

  7. Ik denk dat het Pompeï is met op de achtergrond de Vesuvius.
Wij (je weet wel wie) bezochten dit gebied in 2008. We (drie van ons) beklommen de Vesuvius en bezochten Herculanum.

  8. Pompeii or Herculaneum in southern Italy, maybe? Studied about them in Latin in high school about thousand years ago. Maybe just 60 years ago. Never seen in person. Klem
