Back to work

I could have done with another week holiday. Jellybeans on toast, I could have done with another three weeks holiday, but alas, this morning my alarm clock started playing the radio at 5.25. And five minutes later the other alarm clock started beeping. I only hit the snooze button twice, because I knew I had to go to work.

When I got outside it was cold. There had been a groundfrost and I was happy I had my gloves still in my coat. It's a good thing though that I cycle to work and by the time I got there, I was quite warm and toasty. Unfortunately however, my coach wasn't. The windscreen was frozen and I couldn't find the windscreen defroster fluid anywhere. Now, don't worry, I didn't need to get the ice scraper out (which is probably at home), I just put the defroster at full and used the windscreen wipers. By the time I had to leave I could see out of my windows.

The rest of the day was okay. Nothing major happened. I told one group of screaming children to tone it down a lot. I didn't hit the mirrors of a car that was parked midway in the road (which I was happy about), I waited more than I drove and I got home at a decent time.

Now, about that holiday...

  1. Oh, I know, frost already!! My car was frosted over when I got up yesterday. I park it facing east, so the windshield (Canadian word for windscreen) was defrosted, and my side mirrors hadn't frozen over, and I was only going three blocks to church. If it hadn't been so late, I could have walked.
But frost. Sigh. Yes, that time of year again.
    Luv, K

  2. Nobody is ever ready for frost! Holidays must always come to an end. At least it sounds like it was a good first day back.

  3. I had a holiday today! I've been taking over for a co-worker at the preschool I work at, and she came back today. Hurray!

  4. Oh, how I know that feeling! Actually, it's more of a memory these days, but I still know that feeling! How horrible to have to scrape frost on your first morning back.

Glad you didn't hit that car!

  5. I must remember to put the car in tomorrow night. I'd rather not scrape in the mornings. We should be okay tonight though -- barely.

  6. I was at the gas station the other day and the guy cleaned my back windshield. He said there was about an inch of mud on it. I told him it was probably time I got the wiper fixed but at least I didn't have to worry about frost. ;-)

Sounds like you had a good first day back. It's never quite as bad going back when you get lots accomplished during your time off.

  7. Love that alarm clock picture! I am not a morning person, so I can empathize.
