*PANIC* Less than a week to go!!

They are ready to go!
Well no, I am not panicking. Yet! Although my stomach has started fluttering a bit and it has nothing to do with some beau or other. It does have everything to do with Christmas dinner though. I have never done anything like it before in my life and I am a bit nervous. Well, not nervous exactly, but... well, you know.

Mind you, just in case I burn Rudolf (oh yes) and the sprouts are cooked to a mush, I do have some chicken nuggets in the freezer and some ready made apple-sauce in the book case. And I do have plenty of booze, so maybe the guests won't even notice anything wrong. Still. A bit apprehensive.

Is it too much??
Other than: I got all the Christmas decorations down. The only thing still missing is the tree. Which I will hopefully take down tomorrow. Or the day after. The television area is looking festive when you first walk in. Then you turn around and there is crate upon crate upon crate with wool and yarn. Whoever said you can never have enough, didn't mean 'in any small place'. So, no more yarn for me for a while to come. Which is good for the purse strings as well.

Miss Oswin is not impressed
The other living area is slowly taking shape as well. The sort of sideboard is filled with decorations. There is still a way to go and I still have to figure out how and what we are going to do exactly with the dinner table. But I know my sister is a clever girl and probably has some great ideas of her own.

Right now though, I will continue clearing, cleaning, decorating and wondering why I have so much stuff. Not necessarily in that order...

it just accumulates, doesn't it? Mind you, I think you have it pretty well organised, with all those lovely drawers. As for the cookerising; I love to cook and used to do lots, but I noticed yesterday as I prepared a meal for my neighbour (Jock's pawrent), that I was more anxious than I have ever been about the preps. Silly really, as it was just a standard home-cooked Indian meal and was very informal. I have come to the conclusion this morning, that am aging and enjoy too much my own company!!! It is good for us to have these visitors and occasions which stretch our comfort zone. But not too much. YAM xx

    1. There are no drawers, just plastic see-through crates. They are perfect for all sorts of things and I store my regular crockery in some now as well (while using the Christmas crockery I have).

I must admit I am a bit more comfortable with other people now than a couple a years ago. But, my parents and friends will not be staying with me, just my sister.

  2. I know all will go well don't worry......although your plan to be generous with the booze could help, hehe.
Brom and Mouse look very well prepared for Santy Paws.
Oh and your stash, well, you should be Mum's stash of fabric, you make a good pair of hoarders!
    Loves and licky kisses

  3. It's your family, you will be fine. Make your lists and check them twice!! You do have a lot of wool and yarn but having a hobby is a wonderful thing. Your decorations look very nice. Merry Christmas!!!

  4. So the person that dies with the most yarn wins. If you are concerned about the bins, a decorative throw or a white sheet with ornaments pinned to it would add to the festive look. Even a dark sheet with white snow flakes made of paper would work! Yes, I have had experience at hiding stuff through the years! Just take time to enjoy your family and the rest will take work out just fine! Brom and Mouse look very ready.

    1. It's not in full view fortunately. You have to go into the television area, which is sort of hidden behind some bookcases. Works perfectly!

  5. I'm sure your dinner will be fabulous! Ghostwriter asked Oma what she wanted to eat for dinner when she comes over to visit on Christmas Eve. She said pork roast with sauerkraut! Not ham. Not turkey. Not roast beef, or anything else that smells good while cooking. Maybe we should make some pie or something to over ride the sauerkraut! Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!

    1. Pork roast with sauerkraut! Sounds quite good really. I wouldn't mind getting that for Christmas. But that might just be me (and Oma of course).

  6. We're sure your dinner and visit with the relatives will go well. Our mom says you don't have too much yarn and thinks it's well organized. You have a nice selection to choose from for whatever project you might like.

  8. Keeping apple sauce on the bookshelf must be a Dutch thing. ;)
