Nice and toasty, but not really fit for work |
Today I had my second appointment with my physio (same torture, but less painful) and after that I went on the hunt for gloves.
I had lovely gloves. Really nice ones. Leather. Comfy. Warm enough. They did not hold up very well when moving a fridge...
Great for making snowballs, but a bit too chunky |
So, new gloves were needed. Leather, comfy, warm enough. But for some reason there didn't seem to be my type of gloves in the shops. In the end I admitted defeat: men's wear! Surely they must have some! And they did. Cheap as well (0,95 euro or even better: 0 Icelandic kroner). But (there's always a but, isn't there?) they were the wrong size. They were large and I need medium. He checked the other store: nope. A third store: nope! Grrr.
Perfect. Well, almost... |
I did buy another pair. They are leather. Comfy. Warm enough. They just aren't the really nice ones I wanted. They did however come in medium...
Oh, and just so you know: I do NOT have abnormally large hands. But men's gloves just seem to have a better fit for me.

ReplyDeleteNo, you don't have large hands, but they are hands like my mother had... solid, salt of the earth style hands. She quite often bought men's gloves too. Funny thing is, one of her favourite pairs still resides the hall cupboard here at the father's place, and only yesterday he went in to get his, and came out with those... they were too small for him and he doesn't have large hands (for a man) either! It is that time of year, though eh? I put mine on the for the first time this winter yesterday too. It was a day like that... YAM xx
Solid, salt of the earth. Mm, that's a nice way to describe my hands. Mind you, they might be a bit too soft to be completely salt of the earth!
DeleteIt's tough to find just the right gloves. Ghostwriter used to lose her gloves every year. She'd store them away somewhere for the summer and then she couldn't find them again when it got cold out. Now she always stores them in the glove compartment of her car. Well, that's a logical place to put them, and now she always finds them in time for winter weather.
ReplyDeleteI knew where mine went: in the bin! I ripped them up when trying to move a fridge (or was it the cooker?). Which was really dumb, since there were proper workman's gloves in the car!!!
DeleteThat time of yearagain when the gloves, scarf and hat have to come out.I know I bought somenew ones last yearbut where did I put them!!!
ReplyDeleteThe scarf has been worn already, the hat not yet, but probably quite soon!
DeleteWhere is the difference between men and women gloves ?? Never paid attention. Anyway I don't like gloves and buy those without fingers.
ReplyDeleteSometimes we wonder how they even come up with sizing!
ReplyDeleteYour Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
I know! Go to a different shop and the sizes are different as well! And what's with the L and XL? Mind you, when I buy dresses I now buy them in small. From a large size shop! It nearly makes me feel dainty!
DeleteGloves are a must for standing on sidelines watching grandchildren games on chilly days. Those are few and far between where we live. And what Murphy said!
ReplyDeleteThey certainly are a must over here. It's not really the cold, more the continuous wind and rain that make it feel really cold and chilly. Gloves are very much needed.
DeleteI was given a new pair for my birthday. I should be set for a few years now.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found what you needed.
