Opposable

Apparently we differ from most other animals in the fact that we have opposable thumbs. So we can grab stuff and get dressed and eat with cutlery and do lots of other things. However, nobody ever speaks about the index finger and how important that finger actually is.

Until you can't use it. Because it hurts to bend the tip. And it's a bit swollen. And it interferes with your grabbing stuff and getting dressed and eating with cutlery and doing lots of other things.

To all those index fingers out there who don't get the attention they deserve:

You are great.
You are a great help.
You make my hand look good.
You are needed.

Even opletten, dus... Balen, in ieder geval!

It's not a sudden onset of arthritis is it??? or have you been bitten in the night by some mysterious insect??? Gracious. Hope it is very temporary and not to many adjustments are required for the absence of said forefinger!!! YAM xx

    1. Nope and nope. I think I just overdid myself at some point. Some point I cannot remember mind, but still...

I can basically do everything, it's only occasionally I hear and feel a little snap somewhere in the lowest knuckle. But I do try and give it some rest. Such as there is driving a bus!

  6. You never appreciate something until you lose it. Hopefully index finger will heal fast.

  7. I hope that your finger gets better soon. You are so right about how important index fingers are. Two weeks ago I broke my wrist and quickly learned how hard it is to do the most basic daily tasks. And, like you, I have an increased respect for my injured body part. Lots of healing thoughts headed your way.

    1. I totally hear you. Fortunately I can still do everything, I just have to be a bit more careful and no sudden movements.
