Well, that's what I keep seeing on my computer. Along with all the ads for Russian and Thai and Chinese and Martian women that keep popping up unwanted. My own fault really. I went to a certain site to order something and ever since all those ads keep coming in. Not on Facebook, not on Blogger, but on most other sites, which is highly annoying.
I tried getting rid of this malware by cleaning up my computer. Putting in an adblocker. Shouting. None of them work. It's very frustrating and I really don't know what to do now. I am (as I have mentioned before) quite dig-illiterate and know just about enough to keep it going and running somewhat smoothly.
If anybody has an idea of how to get rid of these pesky ads: PLEASE! I need all the help I can get...
Good luck! Hope someone can help. I'm like you when it comes to that stuff!

ReplyDeleteNot sure which adblocker you are using - but this is my choice for Chrome browser (they do for firefox also, just enter their name and browser name in search and it will come up.) I have had no probs with unwanted ads ever since putting it in - once in, if any appear then you need to go into adblock to mark the unwanted site (little icon top right, click and see 'block element'). It does mean that some sites will not work - for example I had to re-enable ads when going to Brainy Quote - but am okay with that as they have control over the ads which get shown.
The other useful little bit software is I don't care about cookies, which stops all that notices the EU demands websites put in regarding the use of cookies.
All these links I have given are very easy to navigate and I hope that you can resolve the frustration! YAM xx
Now, have you cleared your browser history lately? The other thing to consider is that a 'wee worm' has entered - Malwarebytes is my favoured seek and destroy tool for such as this (over and above the daily anti-virus sweep) - at that page, be sure to click 'download' for the free version. (I did once install the full product on a 30 day trial, but it slowed system down A LOT with not much better gain than the free version.)
....and the ether spits nonsense even as I sent that = how did the last paragraph get shifted up one???? I'll join you with a *sigh*...
DeleteI have been using adblocker for a while now. The one you suggested (my sister installed it a few years ago), but that didn't help.
DeleteBut, after a 'wee worm search', I found that I did not have a 'wee worm'. I had about 260 'wee worms'. As it stands now (and very much thanks to you), no ads are popping up and the malware has been deleted. I downloaded the malwarethingymebob and it is definitely working!

DeleteThat's great! Malewarebytes is very handy and I run it at least once a week along with a full viral scan. Daily I do a 'quick' anti-viral, as well as having the sortware on 'constant alert'.
Something else to do is go into Chrome Settings (three-bar icon top right) and click advanced settings (at bottom) then look for 'privacy' - select 'protect you and your device from dangerous sites'. Occasionally I have gone to what has looked like a site of interest for research and Chrome has blocked entry as there is a risk factor there - brilliant! Happy browsing. YAM xx
I is not very IT literate so I suggest a duster and sum antibiotics fur your computer!

Crikey ...... sorry ..... no help from me. My Secretary is completely hopeless. She couldn't even understand what Aunty was talking about in her comment. Glad you got it sorted.
ReplyDeleteWell, I understood enough of it to make it work and that is the most important thing.
DeleteYam is just the very best!!!
ReplyDeleteSomehow, I got onto a list a few years ago. It's not really spam but serious posters thinking I would be interested in their posts. Sigh.
