Okay!

So, I got on the phone to my doctor. Who (as usual) was off due to a holiday and won't be back until next week. I then phoned the replacement, who told me that I couldn't make an appointment with her, because that had to be done between 8am and 10am. When I was still asleep in bed, BECAUSE I AM ILL!!! Fortunately she saw reason after that (mind you, I didn't shout at her) and asked me what the problem was. Well, severe headaches for five days now and no sign it was getting any better. Flu-like symptoms like cold and hot shivers, lack of appetite and throwing up. She asked me a couple of questions and then told me that my medication would be waiting at the pharmacy that afternoon, because I had sinusitis!

So, I went to see my neighbour who was kind enough to give me a ride to the pharmacy and I picked up my prescription of antibiotics. I really hope this will work.

  1. I'm SO glad you talked to a doctor even if you didn't see one. I hope the medication works. If it doesn't, and if the headaches continue, have your neighbor or someone drive you to a hospital as an emergency patient, because headaches shouldn't last that long.
This is just a suggestion, not an order, because you were so good about obeying the last order.

  2. I can't believe you were diagnosed over the phone - that's appalling!
I agree with Kay that headaches shouldn't last that long but I think you should have someone take you to the hospital to get yourself properly checked out.

  4. I was just complaining about the $30 co-pay we have to pay for every doctor visit, including physical therapist, but knowing how long it takes in Canada to get to see a doctor, or wait for an operation, I guess I have to be thankful. I see 4 different doctors (not counting dentists) and I can get an appointment, usually the same day, unless it's a specialist. It is expensive, but we do get good care.
    Get well soon.

  5. Modern times! a diagnosis through the phone without seeing the patient ! Very efficient !
I only hope she is right and you will finally get rid of headache and the rest. Our doctor comes home when we are in bed with fiever and the cats inspect his bag !

Apparently you have to lay in your coffin before a doctor sees you ?

  6. I am also sooo glad you at least got to talk to the dr. there is no way a DR. give one an exam over the phone and prescribe meds, that blows me away! do you have to pay her for the time spent on the phone?
