Romeo and Juliet
Who doesn't know the most famous work by Billy S? The tragic lovestory of two teenagers who were not allowed to spend any time together because their families hated each other, resulting in the end in the death of both!
This balcony can be found in Verona where the story took place. Of course it's not the real balcony, for starters it was built years after the story/play had been written and the story is fictional. It is a real nice tourist attraction in Verona though and lots of people flock to the site to take a photo.
'Romeo oh Romeo, wherefor art thou Romeo?'

Perfectly romantic choice for R.
ReplyDeleteThe perfect balcony too.
Hi Mara! Romeo and Juliet is a great choice for "R"! The balcony is exactly what I had imagined it to be. The story might be fictional but it's very up to date and the subject is used over and over again.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful architecture and a great choice for the R day :)
ReplyDeleteOh you Romantic you! Lovely shot of an enticing balcony.
ReplyDeleteBilly S had me going, just for an instant. :)
ReplyDeleteOhh, so very Romantic!! I have been there, too :)
ReplyDeleteR is for renovation needed
Most tourists dont really care if it is the genuine article or not. Just imagining it is enough.
ReplyDeleteOh and Xmas tree in Trafagar Square is scheduled for 3 Dec I believe.
I've heard of that fraudulent balcony! What a wonderful idea that was, that some enterprising citizen of Verona had!
ReplyDeleteA perfect choice for today's R! I taught Romeo and Juliet to my students for over 30 years, so it's a favorite of mine. "What's in a name..." Actual balcony or not, I can see why this is a tourist attraction--it looks just the way I've always pictured it!
ReplyDeleteIt looks very believable as the Romeo and Juliet balcony. Nice shot and great R choice!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! A terrific balcony and structure.
ReplyDeleteI love it. An actual balcony in Verona. Nice entry Mara.
ReplyDeleteI heard only recently that your famous quote wasn't about WHERE Romeo is geographically, but rather WHY is he from that hated rival family.
