This bridge seemed to be quite well known to some of you as it is of course the Pont du Gard near Nîmes in France. It used to be on the first set of five euro notes as well, not sure if it is still on there now, haven't had a note in my hand for so long! Full points to Yamini and Harm. A quarter point to Janice.
My story? During the trip in the Provence years ago, I was allowed to come on a canoeing trip with the youngsters. They stuck me in the boat with the smallest girl possible, who was very likely overjoyed to be sat in the canoe with me instead of her friends(!). This photo was actually taken from the water (River Gardon).
On to this week's challenge. Where is this? Have you ever been? Tell us your story. Answer next week!
By the by: a small rectification needs to be made as well: Hilary also gets a point for the Edmonton Mall. My point will be taking down again (sigh). It won't change the final outcome of last year, but she is definitely a force to be reckoned with!
This is the Royal Liver building in Liverpool. It was the liver bird on the top that gave it away although it isn't usually seen without its partner on the other side of the building. I was there with a friend celebrating my 64th birthday in the Cavern club, of course. Where else would you go when you're 64.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mara for your comments and the extra point. And sorry you have lost your point.
ReplyDeleteYes I agree with Fun60 it is the Liver Buiding in Liverpool, but I was thrown by the flag to start with. I went to Liverpool or rather Birkenhead in the 1980's and visited Liverpool from there. I remember going to the Albert Docks and being amazed as what was happened there at that time.

ReplyDeleteI too recognised the Liver Bird immediately - though I have never been to Liverpool, that is such an iconic setting and appears on our telly screens a great deal. ... it is one of the places on my 'would if I could' travel list though! YAM xx
Fanny abut tour canoeing with the poor girl.
ReplyDeleteWe don't know where that picture is from but is sure is an interesting looking clock tower.
ReplyDeleteAlways fun finding out the answer!
ReplyDeleteNot a clue. Cool that you took the first photo from the river. hugs
ReplyDeleteThe bird gave it away as the Liver Building in Liverpool.
