I had to move my birdies to the top of the tree to stop Miss Oswin from getting them! |
Those first days in the new year are always a bit strange aren't they. You get rid of the Christmas decorations (will be doing that as soon as this is posted) and the house looks bare. Nowhere near as fun and cosy as it did when the decorations were in place. Mind you, I have enough stuff to take its place and it will at least be easier to protect my tree ornaments. Miss Oswin is quite a good young pussycat, but she does love my birds. Can't imagine why really, but there you go.
Another thing of course getting back to work. Now, I already worked this year. I worked New Year's Eve into New Year's Day (awful, absolutely awful and NOT to be repeated. EVER!!!) and on New Year's Day itself. But today is the first day the schools will be back and all the people will go back to work. Which means, business as usual.
Oh, by the way: I have just heard about the first film I want to see in the cinema. It is (most likely) a Swedish production of a book I read in Norwegian (translated from Swedish) and I laughed and cried and absolutely adored it. Hopefully the film will be equally as good.
Have a good week. For us, the kiddies will be dropped off in about 45 minutes. In another 45 minutes or sso, I will take them to the bus stop. Then, I shall go for a walk in the winter cold. Yes, it is frigid today.
ReplyDeleteOhhh do we hear you everything was back to normal today too.
ReplyDeleteSchool buses, lots of folks heading to work. Of course my peeps retired but they walk at the mall everyday so they had to play in lots of traffic to get to the mall.

ReplyDeleteWe laughed about moving the Birdies to the TOP of the Tree so Miss Oswin couldn't Reach them...
The decorations, especially the lights on the tree, are my favourite thing about Christmas. I love to sit by the fire with the tree lit and relax. When the tree is gone, the house seems bare.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
My tree was across the room, but gave a nice amount of light. As for lighting a fire: I stick to my radiator, the fire is just too much hassle, although it does make it a bit cosier!
DeleteMom likes when the decorations are down and the living room looks bigger!

Well, the empty space will most likely be filled up again very soon with any of the projects I work on! That's how it is in my place. Just not enough room!

ReplyDeleteDeccies didn't happen here this year, due to absence - but I brought back two pretty birds from OZ for next Christmas!!!
... wow, an international best seller I have never heard of. Must look it up... YAM xx
pee ess... watermarking piccies is easy; all photoprocessers will have that option, some better than others. Easy enough, but time consuming!
I read the Norwegian translation of the Swedish book and loved it. When I saw the English translation I was tempted to buy it, but when I opened it randomly and started reading, it was at quite a funny stage and it didn't come through in the English version. So, I will stick with my Norwegian translations (he wrote two more books so far).
DeleteMy decorations are still up. I work to hard on it to just turn around and take them down immediately. I will start over the weekend. Sounds like it will be an interesting movie!
