Camera Critters 16

This is the last of the photos I will show you of the zoo I went to several weeks ago. But how can you resist this little face? I don't know what type of fish it is, so if anyone can shed any light on that?

Camera Critters 15

When I was at the zoo last week there were several animals definitely not indigenous to this country. I mean, I don't get to meet penguins on every street corner. So, it was great to see one at the zoo. It's a Humboldt Penguin and I was so lucky when I got home and saw this one had actually come out great!

Camera Critters 14

A little Barbary Macaque, found in the South of Europe (most famously Gibraltar) and the North of Africa. This was only a baby and I saw it yesterday in Ouwehands Dierenpark in Rhenen, the Netherlands. Isn't it cute!?

PS: the jellyfish in the header I also saw there!

Camera Critters 13

YOU are the bastard!

For some reason I never think of Italy as a nice pet-loving country. Which is completely ignorant and stupid of course and I've seen plenty of examples in Italy to contradict me on that stupidity. When I was in Verona two years ago, I sat in a park and lots of people were walking their dogs over there. And in Florence a few weeks ago, I again saw lots of happy dogs and their owners. Unfortunately, Italy is the same as other countries when it comes to leaving pets during the holidays and I had to take a photo of this sign in Florence.

I've always been of the opinion that if you get a pet, you look after it. A bit like a marriage really: in sickness and in health, till death do us part. You do not, under any circumstances leave your dog or cat tied to a tree in the burning heat or pouring rain, while you go and enjoy your holiday!

Camera Critters 12

Photo taken in Cona, Italy on a buffalo farm. Since they are waterbuffaloes, they need water to cool down and will move in and out of the water during the day. The milk of those ladies was used to make yummy mozzarella.

It might look a bit photoshoppy, but believe me (as A-Ha just sang), I haven't got a clue how to do that. This is the photo as it was taken.

White bear statue shot in Bad Helmstedt, Germany a few months ago.

This is Pete. He sits and poses for everyone and when everyone is done, he will fly off. He won't stay away for long though, he knows there might be some food in it!

Photo taken in Ireland on the 'Slea Head Drive' on the Dingle peninsula.

Camera Critters 7

A few weeks ago I was driving through Germany. During a little stop I was parked behind a Norwegian lorry and just as I was about to leave I saw this little critter. The people on board my bus had to wait for another minute, just so I could take this photograph!

Camera Critters 6

I took this photo in Ireland a few weeks ago. It was an okay day weather wise and we actually had the sun come out when we were at Muckross House on the Ring of Kerry. These horses were waiting for their next job, taking people to a small waterfall. You could also take the jaunting car (as they are called) to the nearby town of Killarney. The horses look okay albeit a bit bored, but I do think they are well looked after. They hardly ever do two runs back to back, there's always a rest in between.

Some people call them flying rats, other wax lyrically about them. I just felt sorry for this little one. He stood and walked funny because he was missing most of his toes. It gave him a certain air though, a certain elegance and he didn't mind posing for me!

Camera Critters 4

When I was in Scotland last year, I spotted this beautiful animal in the Highlands. There were several more roaming a bit more in the distance, but he was quite used to people. After all, there was a small snack van and lots of people gushing over him! And for good reason, he was magnificent!

As seen in Avignon, France a while ago. I even saw one with a little girl on it. Being pushed and guided by her grandfather to stay on the right path!

Camera Critters 1

This horse statue can be found in the seaside town of Saintes Maries de la Mer in the Camargue region of France. Those horses roam wild and free throughout the Camargue and you can see them almost submerged before they jump out on to drier land.
